While You Were Sleeping...

How many knew that sleep is one of the best restorative treatments to your skin? How many of us get those 7-9 hours of sleep each night that allows our skin, bodies and hair to restore itself? Maybe easier said than done, but here's why catching those zzzz's is SO important.
During the first 3 hours of sleep you will sleep the deepest. This means that your body will produce the most human growth hormone. What does that mean? Human growth hormone helps your skin and hair repair itself! Collagen production? Yep, thank you human growth hormone!
For the middle 2 hours of sleep you begin (REM) Rapid Eye Movement. This sleep stage produces melatonin- another hormone that protects your skin!
The last 3 hours you encounter the most REM sleep. This allows your skin temperature to reach it's lowest point, muscles relax- (which means those lines that are signs of aging can relax), and your skin is on it's way to recovery.
Wow- who knew gettting your rest could be so complex!?
But don't forget to aid your skin's recovery at night by preparing the skin for this process. I hear way too often that someone is too tired to cleanse and moisturize their skin at night. But this is the most beneficial time to really give your skin some love and attention. Get rid of the makeup, pollution, sweat, etc. that collectively takes a toll on our skin every day!
I'd love to talk with YOU about how some of our Dermalogica or PCA products can help your skin get back to it's healthiest state!
Sleep Well!
